Felonies
California Penal Code defines a felony as a crime that carries a maximum sentence of more than one year in jail or prison. One who is convicted of a felony can also face a fine of up to $10,000 in addition to, or instead of, imprisonment. The most serious California felonies can even be punished by death.

An experienced and knowledgeable Criminal Law Attorney will always be necessary when one is facing felony charges. The ramifications of being convicted of a felony can ruin someone's

life. It can affect ones ability to get a job, get a loan, rent an apartment, and it can ruin personal relationships with family and friends. A conviction carries high costs of prison time, fines and court costs, probation and post-conviction restrictions. You lose your right to bear arms for the rest of your life. You cannot qualify for a hunting or fishing license, and there are restrictions on other licenses. You temporarily lose your right to vote.
